Established in 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, Estúdio Giz is dedicated to the development and production of independent cinema alongside visionary creators. Driven by the mission to materialize singular artistic visions, the company brings ambitious projects to the global stage, prioritizing narrative integrity and international cooperation.
Its track record is defined by a consistent presence at major festivals, having produced Sick, Sick, Sick (2019, Cannes Directors' Fortnight) and Paulistas (2017, DOK Leipzig). Estúdio Giz’s expertise in international co-production includes acclaimed titles such as Soul of the Desert (Venice Giornate degli Autori 2024, Queer Lion winner), The Human Surge 3 (Locarno Competition 2023), and the animated feature The Other Shape (Annecy Contrechamps 2022).
The company’s portfolio also features To Kill the Beast (Toronto 2021), The Soul Wants to Fly (Tallinn Black Nights 2020), and The Bones' Song (Best Film at Tiradentes 2020), as well as serving as associate producer on The Human Surge (Golden Leopard - Cineasti del Presente, Locarno 2016).
