Bio
Estúdio Giz is an audiovisual production company founded in 2014. Based in Rio de Janeiro, the company works on the development and production of projects for TV and cinema in partnership with independent creators.
It is the producer of “Sick, Sick, Sick” (2019), by Alice Furtado, with world premiere at the Directors' Fortnight in the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, and “Paulistas” (2017), by Daniel Nolasco, with world premiere in the “Next Masters” competition at Dok Leipzig 2017. It is the coproducer of the feature films “Soul of the Desert” (2024), by Mónica Taboada-Tapia, with world premiere in Venice Days 2024, “The Human Surge 3”, by Eduardo Williams, with world premiere in Locarno Film Festival 2023 - Official Competition, “The Other Shape” (2022), by Diego Felipe Guzmán Ramirez, with world premiere in Annecy Film Festival 2022, “To Kill the Beast” (2021), by Agustina San Martín, with world premiere in Toronto International Film Festival 2021, “Longing Souls” (2020) by Diana Montenegro, with world premiere in Tallinn Black Nights 2020 and “Blood Sings” (2020), by Jorge Polo and Petrus de Bairros (Best Feature Film in Mostra de Tiradentes 2020). Estúdio Giz is also the associate producer of “The Human Surge”, by Eduardo Williams, awarded with the Golden Leopard in the “Cineasti del Presente” competition at Locarno Film Festival in 2016. The company has also produced 13 short films over the years, screened and awarded in more than 40 film festivals, such as FICUNAM, Havana Film Festival, Queer Lisboa, among others.
