Bio
Estúdio Giz is an audiovisual production company founded in 2014. Based in Rio de Janeiro, the company develops and produces projects for TV and cinema in collaboration with independent creators.
It is the producer of “Sick, Sick, Sick” (2019), directed by Alice Furtado, which premiered at the Directors' Fortnight at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, and “Paulistas” (2017), directed by Daniel Nolasco, which premiered in the “Next Masters” competition at DOK Leipzig 2017.
It is also the co-producer of the feature films: “Soul of the Desert” (2024), by Mónica Taboada-Tapia, which premiered at Giornate degli Autori at Venice Film Festival 2024; “The Human Surge 3” (2023), by Eduardo Williams, which premiered in the Official Competition of the Locarno Film Festival; “The Other Shape” (2022), by Diego Felipe Guzmán Ramirez, which premiered at Annecy Film Festival 2022; “To Kill the Beast” (2021), by Agustina San Martín, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2021; “Longing Souls” (2020), by Diana Montenegro, which premiered at Tallinn Black Nights 2020; and “Blood Sings” (2020), by Jorge Polo and Petrus de Bairros, which won Best Feature Film at Mostra de Cinema de Tiradentes 2020.
Estúdio Giz is also the associate producer of “The Human Surge” (2016), by Eduardo Williams, which won the Golden Leopard award in the “Cineasti del Presente” section at Locarno Film Festival in 2016.
The company has also produced 13 short films, which have been screened and awarded at more than 40 film festivals, including FICUNAM, Havana Film Festival, and Queer Lisboa.
